FAA Part 141/VA Flight Training School - Learn to Fly

I am interested in flying, but have some questions...

What are the age and physical requirements?

You can start flight lessons at any age but must be 16 to solo and 17 to receive a Private Pilot's License (a Private License allows you to carry passengers and really use your flying skills). There are no upper age limits - it is never too late to experience the thrill of flying. You need to be able to read, speak and understand the English language and pass a physical exam given by a local Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) medical examiner.

What about flight training - how long does it take?

The FAA requires a minimum of 40 hours of flight time in order to become a Private Pilot. Of those 40 hours, 20 are with your instructor and 20 are solo. We have found the average student takes approximately 6 to 9 months to get their private license. Some students have earned their licenses in as little as 3 months - the time it takes is up to you.

When and how often are my flight lessons?

We are open 7 days a week all year long so lessons can be planned around your schedule. We have a large inventory of airplanes allowing you to progress as rapidly as you desire. The more often you fly, the sooner you get your license. Although it is not mandatory, we recommend you fly at least 1 hour per week.

What does it cost?

On the average, the Private Pilot course runs about $5,200.00. The price depends on how many hours you fly and what type airplanes you choose for your training. We offer a "block time" discount program to help reduce the cost of your flight training.

Once I have my Private License - then what?

Our extensive fleet of airplanes is available for you to rent for local flying with your friends and family, or for cross-country travel. Your Private License is also a ticket to continue learning. We offer Commercial, Instrument, Multi-engine, Flight Instructor and Airline Transport Courses. Completing one of more of these advanced courses increases your flight skills and, for some, may even lead to a new career.

Can you tell me more about your company?
